save documents

I'm new to access. I'm using a database that someone else created. When I
enter data into and hit the save it seems to be fine. When I close out of it
and reopen in the data that I entered isn't there, but if you put the record
number in it will show the information that I put in. How do I correct this
problem? Thank you in advance.
 
How are you interfacing with the table - Form or table directly? There is no
need to 'Save' in most interface methods.

Where are you entering the record number?
