Save Doc Issue

Everytime I save a word doc it saves it as read-only. Is there a way to disable this or is it a glitch?
 
Which version of Word?

When you say it saves as read-only, could you tell us what it is that tells
you the document is read-only? Where are you saving the documents?

After I save I reopen it try to make some edits and it says doc is read only. I save it localy to my c:
 
Which version of Word are you using?

What did you do to open the document?

Are you on a network?
