PPT XP & 2003 has the option of saving every shape as an image.
Supposing I have a textbox (say having 5 lines) with an image background.
I want to save only the background as an image and not the text in the
textbox.
How do i do this.
One option is to delete all the text and then save the image but by doing
this the size(height) of the textbox decreases and the imsge distorts.
Is there any way out where I can save only the background without altering
the size of the image

Regards and thanks
Abhishek

Abhishek,
With the textbox selected, go to Format - textbox - tab textbox, uncheck the
second checkbox which allows Powerpoint to adjust the size of the box in
relation to the text typed.
Now you can delete the text without PPT resizing the box.

Thanks Luc
Bingo it works perfectly, but if u could help further
It works perfectly for textboxes but what about table . theres no such
option available for table.
If u could tell me the option for table as well it will be great
Thanks once again

Hello,
A table you say, as far as I know when you put a picture in the background
of a table it does so in all of the cells. If you delete the text (ctrl+A;
delete key), the size of the table will not change and you will be left with
only the table and it's background.
Is it that what you are looking for?

U r right when u say that a table inserting a picture in a table inmserts it
to al the cells.
but suppose we have a long text for a single cell the text is arranged as in
wordwrap feature.
the consequent height of the coressponding row keeps on increasing with
every increase in textrow.
Suppose the text was of 4 lines the image height is respective to 4 lines,
but when we delete the text of the cell the image height or the row height
becomes one similar to that of textbox.

I want that the table size or the row size should also not change.

It is my experience that the height of the row stays the same even when you
delete the text in the only cell. You can of course decrease or increase the
height of the row by dragging the handles. If you type more text than is
possible, the height automatically increases as you mentioned, but when you
delete the text it will revert to its original height.
As far as I know you have little control over the height of a row in a table
in Powerpoint, not as much control as you have over it in Word.
Do you really need a table? You could just as easily draw a rectangle, add a
background, and even type text allthough you will have to adjust the
positioning of the text which is by default centered horizontally and
vertically. When you delete your text in the rectangle the size will not
change.
Sorry if this doesn't help you, maybe someone else will have better ideas.

Thanks for the response.

But i do not want it to revert back to its original height.
The question is not whether i need the table or not, basically i need to
extract the images of the same size as present in the PPT of the client.

Anyways thanks a lot.
If u have any other suggestions pls do let me know

Abhishek,
To force the table shape to retain the same dimensions even when you delete
the text you have to first size the row height to value higher than the
(0.125 should be enough) higher than it's current size and then restore it
back to the original size. Now delete the text and the empty table will
remain with the exact dimensions.
