save a document in word

Trying to save a word document, either creating a new
document or opening an exsisting document. Click on file-
- save or save as, nothing happens. No dialog box will
appear, and closing out of the document, word ask if you
want to save the document. If you chose yes, nothing
happens, no dialog box will appear. rebooting the system
does not clear up the problem.
 
Has it ever worked? If it never worked, then it didn't get installed
correctly. Remove and reinstall. If did work before, what has changed?
Any new software installed? Any system changes or upgrades? Have you
checked for any nefarious software that will get in the way of proper
operation (viruses?).

Frankly, Word works. It takes something special to stop it working.

Hey Rob, thanks for the input. It has worked without any
problems up until about a few days ago. Nothing has
changed on the system and no new software installations.
I have checked for viruses and ran ad-ware, without any
luck fixing the problem. I also, uninstalled and
reintstalled Microsoft Office which has not help. If you
have any more input, it will be gratefully appreciated.

Have you disabled the Office Plug-in in Norton AntiVirus? See "Title Bars
Flash, Word Becomes Unresponsive, or Word Cannot Close" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=812075
