Are you using the A7N8X mobo? There is a problem which
can be overcome using a modified bios (google
search 'uber' 'bios') and latest silicon sata drivers.
I succeeded in getting a perfect install only to run
Windows Update which screwed the whole thing, corrupted
the bios and the sata drive. Not happy with MS especially
when they reported the issue was known and being
researched. Why leave the update online? Screw MS in my
opinion. Run update at your own risk.

Hit F6 when it starting set up to install RAID drives, YES, even if your using one SATA drive your OS (winXP) needs to be able to communicate with SATA drive and thats the only way it can. So get a floppy and but your drives for SATA RAID on them and do F6 it will promp you later so it will give you the chance to install the driver. SATA is not native in XP so you must always install drivers for WinXP to see them even if theres already a harddrive and you just added an extra for (SATA) for storage. The floppy with your drivers for the board should of came with the it. If all you have is a motherboard setup disk you must extract the drivers to a floppy.
