SATA hard drive & CD RW

I have installed the sata cable from the hard drive to the data connector on
the MOBO, and the Cd Rw will be connected to the primary ide connector on
the MOBO. In this instance, would the Cd Rw drive be set to master instead
of slave? As you can probably guess, this is my first attempt at putting
together my own computer; and it has been trouble free "so far" [I have had
to read and re-read a lot].

Yes, set it as master.
