Since my computer shuts down in 60 seconds I can't stay on
line long enough to download the required fixes. How do I
get to the built in "shutdown.exe -a" command to abort the
shutdown and try to get this virus resolved?

If your computer is constantly attempting to shutdown
or reboot, quickly go to:

Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter.
This opens the Command Prompt window.

Then type: shutdown -a , and hit enter.

This should halt the rebooting problem.

Special note if you use AOL:

America Online installs its own connection settings that override

connection settings don't include a way to turn on Windows XP's
built-in firewall.

Thanks Carey. Also, I was doing some reading from info I
printed off the Microsoft site from my business computer
(not infected). I went to the task manager and killed the
recommended processes that I found (only one--
avserve.exe). Hope that was the right thing to do. Will
follow your suggestions as well.
