....does not work on WinXP Home SP1.
It works perfectly fine on W2K, as soon as I plug it in the wizard pops up ,
but nothing happens on WinXP... the USB ports work fine cause I used'em with
other devices...

Does anyone had the same problem???

TIA,
Sebastián

I don't recall seeing a wizard on XP PRO although if it did run it
didn't require any input from me. I plugged the Sandisk Cruzer
Mini in and a new drive showed up in the drive list.

Hi Sebastian...Just purchased SanDisk Mini 512 MB. Using XP Home, Works
just great. If you open 'My Computer' by doubleclicking the new drive
should be listed.

I am also using a Cruzer Mini (256). I have no problems with the USB
connections (XP Pro SP1).

Have you tried to remove all USB ports/hubs in Device Manager and let XP
re-install them on next reboot?

Yes, I tryied that and it says new hardware found but i can see the files I
have on my Cruze neither copy files to it..

Then the next question: Is the USB port on a HUB or direct from the
motherboard?

If it in on a HUB, is the HUB self-powered (had its own power plug)??

It's a Compaq Presario 900 (notebook)
I have other USB devices and they work just fine ( a Garmin GPS is one of
them)

Sebastian, the reason why Yves Leclerc asked the question is because some
devices don't work well or at all off a USB hub, that's regardless of the
fact other devices will work off the hub. Hence, in diagnosing your issue,
he and others who have responded need to know if you are connecting the
SanDisk Cruzer to a USB hub or directly to the laptop.

| WXP SP1 ???
====
Yes, XP SP1

I presume this is a jump drivem thumb drive, etc,. When it is plugged
in, click "My Computer" and you should see it there with a Drive Letter
assigned.

Have you checked with the drive manufacturer about this issue, checked their
website or tech support as they may have information that might help resolve
the issue.

Do you have a firewall and/or any other security software? If yes, try
temporarily disabling it and see if that resolves the issue. If not, I can
only suggest, concentrating your efforts and questions on the hardware
board. Also, have you considered the possibility the device is defective.?
If you've tried it on another system and it worked, maybe it's a conflict
between the device and something else on your system. That would require
trial an error disabling of other devices and/or software to try to find the
source of the issue.

I had a similar issue once with some software that was disabling my CD-RW
drive. I finally had to format the hard drive, install XP, install the
software for my CD-RW, then install everything else, drivers, applications
one by one until I found the source of the issue. Beyond that, the device
may simply not work, for whatever reason, on your setup. Perhaps a similar
device by a different manufacturer would work but for some reason, this
device by this manufacturer won't or doesn't.

Ok, thanks for you time Michael...
I'll try intalling XP Pro, since it seems that it works just fine in Pro
