I have this monitor: Samsung syncmaster 700s
I know its rather old, but it still serves me good. Well almost all the
time.
The problem is refresh rate. For some reason Windows XP thinks it's
maximum refresh rate is only 75Hz. I have used it with 85Hz refresh rate
with W95, W98, but with XP I must force the 85Hz refresh rate in
display properties. I even found it's box on the attic where it is
written 85Hz at 1024x768.
Overriding refresh rate is ok for Desktop and programs, but almost all
games switch refresh rate to 75Hz. This is very annoying, as the monitor
"squeaks" quite loud at this refresh rate. I mentioned before it is
rather old.
I tried setting refresh rate in DXcontrols, various programs that claim
to fix refresh rate but with no success.
Is there any way to change the setting for this monitor. I believe there
must be some INF file where this data is stored or registry setting?
I really do not want to by myself new monitor.
Regards!
