A raw Samsung 160Gb HDD I have installed to a P4 causes
reboot as XP tries to install a driver for it. Bios
detects HDD fine. Would problem be related to 48bit LBA
issue and if so whats the fix?

Solution was as follows: (thought it might help someone)

1. Upgrade P4 M/Board BIOS - Req W98 startup floppy
2. Upgrade XP to Service Pack 1 - Many megs later.
3. Partition and format 160Gb HDD using XP setup -
Annoying, cant leave it unattended at the end
(Takeslongtime).
4. Ark up XP which finds drive correctly and asks to
reboot - Much better, switching on 48bit LBA I assume.
5. Joy now but a 120Gb HDD would have been a lot easier.
