When you say "system restore disk" I'm assuming you mean a Sony
"recovery disk" which is not a real operating system but is rather an
image to return the computer to factory condition. The image will be
for the motherboard that came with the computer so it is doubtful that
it will work on a completely different motherboard. When you install a
different motherboard in a computer running XP, you need to do (at the
very least) a Repair Install. You will not be able to do that with the
"recovery disk". Naturally, you can go to the store and buy a retail
version of XP and install it. Just get the drivers you need for the
rest of the Sony hardware from Sony's website.
