Hey, dont know how much you lot will know about this but here goes.

Ive just been for an interview for a job with a big (global) company doing IT front line support. Basically there is the usual help desk nonsense and there are some projects to do. It a 12 month contract on offer. What would you think i should be looking for salary wise? Ive got a fair bit of experience from working in the computer shop and i have an honours degree in IT (2:1).

All offers welcome! ;-)

Cheers.

OK then, in that case should i take this job, bearing in mind its a 12 month contract, or should i go to sydney australia and stay with mates for 6-9 months and work in a bar?!

You choose!!

where u from bodhi? i presume not from Australia!

isnt that a v v big thing to do going all the way out to Australia? Woulndt that just be for a laugh and not serious!

On the other hand this other job will be v v serious, formal and professional!
these sorts of desicisons are the ones u need to discuss with your nearest and dearest!

im not u, but if i were u, id definetly be swinging towards an australian winter!!!! :)

Thats what im thinking. Im from Edinburgh by the way. Im thinking i can work in a 9-5 job which will be interested to begin with but soon will be boring like any job OR, i can go and live with mates in sydney, work in a bar and play for the local footie team!! I know which i want to do, i just dont want to turn down this job incase it provided me with some amazing skills etc.

Know what i mean!! :-)

This is not something you ask on a forum, it will only be guess work I am afraid. I agree with psd99 this sort of thing is best discussed with near and dear ones.

as strange as it may seem so would u prefer an Australian winter or would u settle for a Scottish Summer? :)

Okay so you go out there two or three possible thoughts.

1st will be you will love it to bits woulndt want to come home! will that not be difficult for your friends and family in Scotland?

thought2: you will become homesick and wont like your stay and would want out quickly
maybe u will find it hard to adjust or adapt to the australian way of life!

and there is somethwere inbetween like you are right now! should i go home or stay here in australia!!
and its these decidisons that are the biggest in life when one is caught inbetween. and in this case it will be scotland vs australia!!! :) just like u r now

whatever you may decide good luck on u mate

Australia. No contest. You may not get another chance.

And help desk work is hell.

I agree with Flops, you may only get one chance to go and if you dont like it you can always go home. of course this means you start you life in a forgein land which sould be fun, just be careful of the dingos...

Watch me wallabies feed, mate, watch me wallabies feed...Their a dangerous breed mate... so watch me wallabies feed...

All together now...!

;)

Tie me kangaroo down sport, tie me kangaroo down......
