safetly remove hardware

WHy do we need to click on this little icon on the bottom right hand corner
(by the clock), when we need to disconnect the dig. camera from the usb
cord??? Common sense would say, 'to do it safetly'. But cant I just pull
the usb out of the camera ? With my last camera, I would just pull out.
Maybe I didnt notice the icon there everytime. I would use the scanner
wizard to 'dl' pics. Any ideas would help

As long as you're sure that file operations have been completed, you can
ignore the "safely remove" thing and just unplug the camera.
