safemode

I have the same problem with the administrator account as many others. From reading some of the responses to other peoples questions I need to start my computer in safe mode. How do I do this? I tried pressing f8 as one person suggested in a different answer but nothing happened. Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesnt seem to get me to safe mode either. Please help me!
