I'm caught in a serious loop with one of my Laptops:

in order to get rid of the latest nesky.b Virus, Symantec
advises on their webpage to boot the system into safe
mode, using a setting in the msconfig.
that works fine, however it then no longer lets me log
into the system. I've tried the Administrator as a user
and the blank passwork, as advised by Sony, but that still
does not let me in.
I also cannot boot into regual mode again, since that
check in the ms config is still there.
does anyone have a solution/work around for me?
thanks
Hanni

If you did not apply a password to the built in Administrator account, you need to find out from Sony if they assign one, by default. Otherwise, you don't have many options, especially if the hard drive is formatted NTFS.

If you knew the Administrator Password, then you could use the Recovery Console to get around this.

Your only option may be to reset the Administrator password. I can't vouch for this procedure, and you should read the cautions on the page before proceeding.
