I have a Nikon Coolpix 2500 digital camera. I connect it
to my Computer by USB cable. My owner's manual says
Windows XP users should see a "Safely Remove Hardware"
Icon that will allow me to disconnect the camera safely.
However, the icon never appears. I think it is because
the driver was updated by one of the windows XP updates.
Does anyone know what, or why that icon is not appearing
on my taskbar?

It may not be necessary. With the camera powered down, connect the cable...
Turn on camera power.

When the transfer is complete, turn off the cam power - then disconnect.
See if that proceedure works for you.
