Safely Remove Hardware icon

I just got a Motorola cable modem and it is hooked to my
computer using USB.Now everytime I reboot my system , the
Safely Remove Hardware icon comes up in the system tray
and I can't figure out how to remove the icon because I
don't want to remove the cable modem.

You cannot remove it. But you can HIDE it. Right-click the START
button|click PROPERTIES|TASKBAR tab|CUSTOMIZE.
