John

im having a problem. i am currently using the Motorola
surfboard 4200 usb cable modem. and when its installed,
the safe removal icon appears on the lower right corner
in the task bar. i would like to get rid of the safe
removal icon because it takes up computer resources and
its annoying. can i set the device to not be plug and
play or just take off the safe removal icon for it?

Thank you for your help :)

John;
Until someone else comes along with a better answer.
I had this problem about two months ago when I installed XP. This was
the advice, near as I can remember. Right click the Start button/click
Properties/click the Taskbar tab/click Hide inactive icons/click
Customize/highlight Safely Remove Hardware/click Always hide/click OK/click
Apply/click OK. Down on your Taskbar, by the clock, there should be a <<
looking deal, click it to show hidden icons. I don't remember why you have
to put up with this. Apparently we just do.Hope this helps. Let us know.

thanx. it did help, its just annoying because it takes up
system resources but at least you cant see it anymore.
until a better solution comes along, i guess this will
have to do. there should be a option to select if you
want to have the safe removal option. thanx your your
help again.

John;
