I am using a dell laptop, few months old, windows xp. The past couple
of days when I want to open internet explorer to go online, I get a
runtime error that says this application has requested the runtime to
terminate it in an unusual way. Then I have to restart the computer to
get online. Anyone know how to fix this and what is causing it?

Thanks

It sounds like you might have a virus that is using ie to start a runtime
program you might want to take a look at that also startup your task manager
before you start ie and see what is trying to launch when you start ie

You mean this?

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.
Runtime Error!
Program: c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

runtime error while starting internet explorer are ususally sign for spyware
or similar. have you scanned your computer lately against spyware?

I have had the same problem. New Dell with WinXP Pro. I do not have
google toolbars loaded (or at least I cannot find it in my add/delete
program file). I have spyware and do scan my computer routinely. I
suspect that it might be with AOL. My wife uses AOL and it seems to
happen after she opens AOL. I was thinking of deinstalling and
reinstalling AOL. Any other suggestions?
