Have had an exhausting experience with Microsoft Visual C++ Library Runtime error, Abnormal Program Termination, Adobe Photoshop....found no fixes here (although I tried many of those suggested, like downloading vbs files - and even tried patches for Visual Basic) or at Microsoft, even after DAYS of reading through the posts and techno lit.

BUT - I tried a system restore to the DAY BEFORE I installed the latest Microsoft Updates...and BINGO...it worked. No more runtime error; Photoshop running like a champ

Caveat - AFTER installing the updates, but before I tried to open Photoshop again, I installed a new printer and scanner. Have yet to re-install those - but I will post again with the result. It may be that there is a conflicting file or two; especially with the scanner software. If not, then it is as I expected - I regret upgrading from my beloved crippled child NT 4.0...and I thought THAT was a buggy system

Good luck to everyone else; especially you other frustrated Adobe users..

****UPDATE

Reinstalled available updates - Runtime error again. Restored to last working point; reinstalled ONLY critical updates/security updates. Worked Fine. Created Restore Point. Reinstalled available Driver from MS list - Mitsubishi NEC Monitor Software (My monitor IS NEC Mitsubishi) - Error again. Restored. Workes fine. Created restore point, installed printer and scanner, still fine

Problem is apparently a conflict between the NEC Mitsubishi Monitor Driver and Photoshop, probaly specifically with ICC profiles (this is where it would lock up while Photoshop was loading - also gave be boot-up error "Adobe Gamma Loader has encountered a problem...)

Adobe users w/runtime errors...check your driver and other misc. updates
