Difficult to say, sometimes not all that much. It depends on the age,
manufacturer and model of the motherboard and chipset, Windows might
play nicer with one make over another. Sometimes you might get little
glitches and bugs or the hardware may not be running to it's full
optimized capacity. The board and chip manufacturers may be aware of
particular issues and the drivers will correct these issues. Always
make it a practice to install the motherboard and chipset drivers, these
are the first set of drivers that you should install after Windows is
installed. These drivers may affect how other drivers are configured or
installed and how they ultimately communicate with the hardware.
Consult your motherboard manual and chip maker's website for further
information and installation instructions.

Definately no on the Itanium. Thanks.

Yes, (unless you have an Itanium processor... which I doubt you have).

Not really, as long as you install the motherboard/chipset drivers.

Awesome, thanks!
