I have recently installed new 160GB hard drive on my computer. Naturally,
when I setup new drive it became my C: drive. Now my old drive is D:. I
would like have XP running on both drives, my D: being for imaging software
and related items and C: drive for everthing else. I understand this might
be possible not sure how to proceed or what steps to take. Please avise

Are you asking about two separate installs of XP?

If so, then you first install on C: and then do it again on D: and you will
then have a dual-boot configuration.

You don't need it installed on both drives to do what you listed above. Why
do you think it needs to be installed on both drives?

Whenever the 2 drives run in youre computer, one will be C: and the other
asigned D:,Unplug the to-be slave drive(physically),then install xp.Once
installed,
replug 2nd drive,on desktop,go to run,type:diskmgmt.msc In msc,R.click on
the new drive,select format,after go to actions,all,select,make active,close
out.As far as putting xp on it also, youre only useing up space,C: drive
will not
use the xp files.

Thank for your response. I guess I should have been more clear with my
current config. My old drive is the orginal drive in the system with all my
programs including XP os. I quite sure I was at fault when I install the new
drive but set it up as dual master and loaded XP on the new drive. The old
drive still contains all my software I did not copy them over. I planned on
removing all but the programs for my imaging software and related images.
But now can not figure how to get XP to load and bring up a desktop for
access. Ideally I would like to have the opinion at startup to either go to
the C: or D: drive. Hope this makes things alittle more understndable. Look
forward to any assitance. By the way storage place is not an issue, Old C
drive is 20GB enoough room for now XP only amount up to less than 3GB.

Put the original drive back to C and reinstall XP on the new now D drive.
You can't move XP to a different drive letter and expect it to boot. The
boot files must remain in the C or original location.
