I have a wireless network, with 4 computers connected.

on one computer i have 500GB of storage (and no, i have no servers, though i wouldnt mind getting one if anyone know where to get them cheaply).

i want to be able to have games installed, so all the network users can load the game just fine. i am networked to my family across street with one of the top of the line routers / WNIC cards. and would like to play games with them, but since they do not have as much hard drive space as we do, they would like to just use our computer to load these games.

this is kinda like what they do in schools with Novell Netware (or w/e it was). they install a bunch of programs on a server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks a lot,
James Jones

Game servers are exactly that - servers. You need a server operating
system and you need games that support the client/server setup. You may
be able to host a game on a server running a non-MS operating system
such as Linux, but it will depend on the game.

This is really not a Windows issue. You should do some research on
gaming forums and user forums for the particular games you want to
host. Here are some links that may be helpful:

Well its not just for games. its for any programs. i want to share programs
on comptuer one with the other computers on the network, so they can do not
have to install it on their computers.

Same basic answer: it depends on the program. Some programs are designed
to work in a server/client configuration, and some aren't. Contact the
program mftr. for support. If you want to run Windows programs, you'll
need a server and a Windows server operating system. For such a small
setup, you could use Small Business Server which is less expensive than
full Server 2003.
