running avg formula that ignores blanks

I am attempting to build a formula that averages a column of data (that gets
added to every day), but ignores, or does not include blank rows.
Any hints?
 
Put your numbers in column A.

Empty some cells.

Put that formula in B1.

You'll see that =average() ignores text and empty cells.
