rundns.exe eating 100% of processor

I have been having serious performance problems with WinXP (so bad that I
added a Linux partition and have been using that for most of my home PC
needs). I've tried spyware, adware, virus scanning/cleaning with no luck. I
noticed in task manager that there is a process called 'rundns.exe' which
seems to almost constantly be running at 70-90% of CPU capacity. When I try
to end process it just comes right back! I have done internet searches on
"rundns" and had zero hits.

Anyone know what 'rundns.exe' is and how do I get rid of it, or at least
keep it from eating up processor capacity (it runs even when no apps are
running)
 
Most probably a malware. And SpyBot, Ad-aware are rules-based and are updated only when a malware file is found and researched on. Try posting your Hijackthis log to any of the following security forums:
