I have just installed the Edinburgh reading test 4i from Hodder Murray tests
onto my computer. You should be able to run the test and it scorea ands
profiles for you. I am repeatedly getting a runtime error 76 message and the
programme will not even open. This occurs after I have logged on with my
password.

It is very infuriating as I have a new laptop and cannot believe it is not
running.

Can anyone help me?

Hi Dawn,

'Runtime Error 76' is a 'path not found' error. The program you have
installed is looking for a file or folder, but is unable to find it.
Your best bet is to try installing the program again with the default
options. This helps in some cases.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I've tried that but it's still coming up. Strangely, although I uninstalled everything, when I installed it for a second time, it accepted the original password that I had changed and would not accept the default password setting. Any further advice gratefully received!

Well Dawn, the error you get lloks like the program can'r find the path or
you don't have Right/permissions to the write access to that directory.
For a simple reason if the Exam is a Simulation exam, you need to get the
latest version of that Exam or contact the Vendor to get that acces rights.

Another before doing this try to Uninstall and Clean up all traces for that
Exam from your Computer by searching for them and Delete and run disk
cleanup, empty your caches also will not hurt if you scan for malwares on
your computer.
Then run this command:
sfc /scannow click [OK] and lewt run you may need your XP CD handy to
insert it inif you prompted o do so.
Reinstall the Exam or a newer version and see if that will solve the issue.
HTH.
Regards,
nass
