what does it mean to run a program "as a service"? vs. ?
what are the advantages & disadvantages.

Running as a service means the program is stared in the background by the
operating system when you boot your PC, so you do not have to logon to run
the program - it is always running in the background doing whatever it is
supposed to do, regardless of who is logged on or even if no one at all is
logged on.
