Run an append query on close

I need a method of running query when the application (Access) closes. I
know how to achieve this uses various methods, except I don't know how to
take into account if the user closes/exits via the "X" in the upper right
hand corner.

You can use a form that's opened on startup (hidden). In it's close event
run your query.
