Several of us in the office have access to an inbox using outlook 2003. The
supervisor has created a rule for all new orders to go into a special folder
within the inbox.

For some reason we now get two copies of the orders, one that goes into the
in-box and one that goes into the folder that was created for the orders.

Looking for anyone with an idea as to how to stop these emails from going
into the inbox.

i just tested it in outlook 2007 & the e-mail goes straigh to the sub folder
in the inbox, no shadow e-mail goes into the main inbox folder. the only
thing that i can think of, is that the administrator created 2 rules for the
orders to go into both inbox & sub inbox folder.

Dear Ms. Poremsky::

I have been suffering with that same problem for several years, also with
Outlook 2003, . I have 19 rules and 15 of them work.

For the 15 which work, the rule is moving a message from a specified account
to a folder. The ones that fail are moving a message based upon specific
text in the subject or in the sender's address.
is the rule at the top of the list of rules? does it have 'stop
processing' in the rule?

No, the failing rules are: 7, 8, 9, and 11 from the top. As for the 'stop
processing,' I do not know what that is. I do not see it in Step 1: Select
condition(s).

HTH.

:-) Cheers,

Jeff V. Pulver

Stop processing is an action - its near the bottom of the actions list. If
its not enabled, other rules that apply to the message will act on it.

without seeing the exact rule, its hard to say why they don't work.

Do you have any additional rules following this particular rule? If so, add
the "stop processing more rules" action to the rule you describe and the
duplicates should stop.
