Ruler Bar Stuck in Centimeters

The ruler in Word, for some unknown reason, is set to centimeters, not inches. I have gone to the Tools/Options/General tab and changed the measurement units to inches. That changes the cursor location sensor in the status bar to inches, but the ruler remains in centimeters

Since the Office Suite came preinstalled on my Dell, I don't know what they specified in the original install for location or overall preferences

Any help will be greatly appreciated

"Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "Regional Options".

Possibly character units rather than cm. See
