Have a Dell laptop, Windows XP Home, and two executables hog the system
for several minutes after startup. They are rsmg.exe and rssp.exe, and
no information exists on what they are. Are these worrisome?

Thanks -

Since Googling for "rsmg.exe" only produced two Chinese sites about Rail
Sim and "rssp.exe" produced nothing, scan your computer for malware.
You may want to send rsmg.exe and rssp.exe to VirusTotal to see what
they are.

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -

Include scanning with either Sysclean or Multi_AV, plus Ewido. Do all
prep/finishing work and follow instructions to do all scans in Safe
Mode.

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the link above (not here, please).

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA).

Nice find. Of the 29 scans, both showed as suspicious on six. Off to
the ether these files go.

Thanks for the reference sheet. Much of this I'd done already, but
there's more to be done.

Hopefully I can at least avoid this . . . thanks!
