Hello

I just had to reinstall Windows XP as well as everything else on my computer due to a virus that wiped out everything. Windows XP was already on my computer when I purchased it so now I am using the backup disks..

My problem is when I am online, I get an error message which seems to come randomly, that reads Save everything your working on because your system will shutdown in 60 seconds... it says it is authorized by " NT Authority\system" and it is due to a "Remote Procedure Call" It counts down and promply shuts off windows and then reboots my computer

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this, or alteast point me into a direction to look to. I have tried reading through windows info, searching for this specific message, clicking on the message... nothing seems to be working

Thanks for your help

If you connected the PC to the Internet without having first
enabled a firewall, without having first installed an antivirus
application with current virus definition files, and before installing
the KB824146 Hotfix, you're very likely to get infected from any of
the thousands of PCs on the Internet that are constantly broadcasting
the Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only takes a few seconds of
exposure.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary updates, patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and enter "shutdown -a" when the
next RPC countdown begins. This will abort the shut down. Also, make
sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to preclude any more
intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools.

You have the Blaster worm.

To stop the shutdown process
Start - Run - type cmd
in the command line type shutdown -a

Go here and follow instructions:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/blaster.htm

You need to download and install all MS Critical Patches and Updates.

Then, to keep your computer safe, you need the following:

A good Anti-Virus scanner

A good firewall like Zone Alarm or the built in XP firewall
ZoneAlarm is available free at:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp

Ad-Aware 6.0 - for removing spyware

Spybot Search & Destroy - for removing spyware

CWShredder - gets rid of page hijackers

Google Toolbar - for blocking popups

Before running the Spybot and Ad-Aware, delete temporary internet files
and internet history.

First of all, it's not a virus. It's a worm. Until you learn the
difference, you probably shouldn't be offering any advice.
(Especially the bad advice contained in you post.) Secondly, the
W32.Blaster.Worm has been in existence only since last August. That's
only roughly 9 months, no where near the two years you're claiming.

Please stop deliberately posting harmful advice.
