Hi there,

Recently, I've upgraded my HP pavilion 9868c machine from
Win98 to WinXP professional (a fresh installation).

Everything looks fine and the machine can boot w/o any
problem. However, the machine has generated (randomly) a
message which said:
"The machine will be restarted because the Remote
Procedure CAll (RPC) service has been terminated
unexpectedly".

Since this happens so often (usually within 10 min,
sometimes as early as 1 min after, after I've logged in).
I wonder there is something wrong w/ my installation?!

Pls. help me to debug and fix this problem. Thanks a lot
in advance!!

Should have Patched! You have the Blaster Worm..

First - if you have BLASTER - GET RID OF IT!
http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp

Second - Protect your computer from this in the future - Microsoft has
offered this free guide to you:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/

Third - Follow their advise and this:

- Install and keep updated some AntiVirus software.
- Do not run/install unknown programs or programs known to carry
spy/ad/mal-ware.
- Turn on your firewall or install/configure a third-party firewall.

This will minimize the chance of this happening in the future.
