Getting this error on Windows XP Home Edition, when attempting to share an
internet connection:

RPC Server is Unavailable

Anyone seen this before?

Is the 'DHCP Client' service started? Also check Event Viewer for error
details.

did you, when this machine was stand-alone, disable the
RPC service due to the virus issues associated with it?

Check Control Panel>>Admin Tools>>Services to see
if it's disabled.

You can also try to start it manually from there.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi,

Did you install SP2? In which case open Regedit, go to
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Rpc, and check whether
there's a value named RestrictRemoteClients (DWORD). If not, create it
and leave its value to 0.

This could help.
