I have a friend who bought his children a computer. They
have had it a year and have never use the antivirus scan.
Their computer now shutdowns when ever the start the
computer. It gives them a RPC code.

I was told earlier to go to Microsoft updates because it
was a Blaster worm virus. The problem is that I cannot do
anything that microsoft udates want me to do because the
computer keeps shutting down. What can I do for them.

Thanks

From one of hundreds of posts in this group that address the issue...

To stop the reboots: Go to Start/Run and type in: services.msc. Scroll down
to Remote Procedure Call (RPC)/Recovery/First Failure/Restart the Service.

Close Windows Explorer, run the edit on line 257 which includes the prompt
for the patch once your system has been cleaned.

This script removes all variants of the W32.Blaster.Worm (original, B, C, D,
E and F) and will inform you whether or not the patch is already installed.

Bring up the task manager(ctrl, alt, del) look for Msblast...end it, and you
should stay online long enough to get the fix for the worm.....
