RPC / Generic host process error / Reboot

Hi there!

I've exactly the same problem (Generci host process error
and constant reboot) with my german version of XP. And the
problem started yesterday evening (GMT).

Strange!

Hope, anyone find's a solution - MICROSOFT, CAN YOU HELP
please???

basically you need patch 823980 from microsoft.

and you need to then scan for what viruses you are
infected with.

to be able to connect to the internet you need to turn on
the xp firewall.

the most common virus msblast but there are several
others.

to workaround

boot to safe mode

and delete the contents of

c windows temp
c windows driver cache
c windows dllcache

open
c documents and settings and then each user one at a time
start menu,program,startup folder

delete all inside other than desktop.ini

start and search all files and folders
rename any of these files found(exact name not part of
another word)
ijexwessr
davweb
loxl
tftp (leave the c windows system32 .exe alone)
worm

empty the recycle bin



reboot
enable xp firewall
reboot
reconnect internet
get the patch
update virus definitions and run full scan and remove the
viruses found
 
Right I have posted all the info on my website, and the link to Symantec's
removal tool. It seems like a worm is responsible for this RPC
vulnerability.

There you will find the type of RPC error that has been going around very
rapidly at the moment, and the link to Symantec which has the removal tool,
and also there are links to fix up the RPC to prevent this happening again.
