So almost every 5 minutes my computer spontaneously shuts
down for no reason. I get the authority has a problem
message and that the RPC doesn't work. I was told I had
the W32blaster worm and I downloaded the tool to get rid
of it, but the program says it was not found on my
computer. What should I do now? I downloaded the patch
and all recent updates from Microsoft, but it still keeps
shutting me down. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you so
much for any help or information you can give me!! Debbie

First, let's stop your computer from rebooting every 5 minutes: Click Start
| Run, and type SERVICES.MSC. At right, right-click on Remote Procedure Call
(RPC) (but not on the similar Remote Procedure Call Locator) and select
"Properties." On the Recovery tab, set the First Failure, Second Failure,
and Subsequent Failure boxes to "Restart the Service." Click "Apply" after
each of them, and "OK" when finished.

The patch will keep you from getting Blaster again, but won't do anything if
it really is on your system. The removal tool should have caught all
variants, but let's be sure, ok? Here are manual steps for identifying and
removing Blaster: http://aumha.org/win5/a/blaster.htm

Let us know what you find.

What about you System Volume Information folder? I had to turn off system
restore, reboot and then turn it back on. Worked for me!
