Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 killed Internet Explorer

I have tried this twice now. After I install Easy Media Creator 8,
which uninstalls my 7.5 and MyDVD, I can no longer use Internet
Explorer. It opens just fine, but cannot connect to any URL, even a
local ddress such as 192.168.1.10:9000. It claims it cannot find the
dns server, but it is there, and everything else works.
Microsoft was unable to fix this!
I rebuilt my disk from ASR and all was good until I installed Creator 8
again. Poof, the same thing happened. An uninstall does not help. I had
to revert to a restore point before the install to get my PC to work
again.
I hate Internet Explorer, but it is used under the hood by many
programs, and it is the only way to run Windows Update.
Is there any way around this problem? What is causing it?

Thanks,
Jim

Switch to Nero. I know I'm much happier since I stopped buying and
using Easy Media Fellator.

A quick guess is that Roxio is trying to call home, cannot, and is hanging
things up. If so, you may be able to prove it with task manager, by killing
a Roxio related task.

I have also Nero which is an excellent program and I like
and use from time to time to burn BIN files, but I prefer
NTI (which is getting better all the time) which works quick
and without all the overhead and has some nice features built it.

Nero works but has a very confusing interface. And, it is overstuffed
with lots of add-ons. Updating from the nero.com site is good for
wasting a whole day. You need to install 5+ programs and doing just one
will break the whole installation.

I may have to do this, but am already out $80. What is interesting is
that I can browse from "My Computer" but as soon as it opens a new
window, the dns symptoms return. What could be causing this?

Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves for integrating IE into the
Operating System!

LOL! You haven't used Nero in a while.
