I have a two-computer network behind a SMC Router with a
firewall. I can access shared files on the Win98SE
computer from the XP, but cannot even see the XP machine
from the 98?!

I can ping the router and the local address from the 98,
but it gets a "timeout" when pinging the XP. The XP
accesses everything perfectly.

HELP!?!

Most common cause of this problem is ICF on the XP PC. Disable
ICF, since it will inhibit F&P sharing. If you want a firewall
(and you should), then get something more flexible than ICF;
go to ZoneLabs.com for a couple of choices.
