Router Routinely Loses Connection

I am using a Netgear WGU624 router and XP Pro. When I'm downloading and come
back after an hour or so, I notice that I've lost the connection and have to
reboot the router (unplug - replug) to reestablish my connection. I don't
notice it happening when I am browsing for long periods of time. XP is set
not to go into standby mode and I don't see anything in the router setup
screen which might account for this.

Does anyone have any idea why this happens and what I can do to correct it?
Any help would be appreciated.

Check the Power Management setting on the network card; don't let that go
into "sleep" mode. Is your modem in bridge mode, with PPPoE on the router?
If so, double check the router "keep alive" settings. I have tried to
follow the Bellsouth groups at BBR, but I am not really sure I understand
if Bellsouth DSL modems come with a PPPoE on the modem option, as the SBC
DSL modems have. If they do, and you are running PPPoE on the modem, make
sure the modem "keep alive" option is properly set.

Speaking of BBR, check both of these links:

Be sure to register at the site; you get some extra capabilities. You can
use a free web email address, Sneakemail, or SpamGourmet if you don't want
to use your Bellsouth email address there.
