Here is my problem. I have XP-Home on 3 machines, 1 of
which is a laptop. Everything was fine, but I needed to
reload XP on the host machine. Ever since I did a
reinstall on the host machine, I can not log onto the
internet. The other machines are fine. The host machine
will not recognize the modem or router. I have tried the
Wizard to no avail. I have also gone into the Hardware
setup and neither the router nor the modem are there. I
have a Linksys router. In reality it is there because I
am on the net on the other 2 machines...

Also, I have a friend with essentially the same problem
although she has a Microsoft router and only one other
machine. She had reinstalled XP-Home recently because of
a virus. Now she can not get the Wizard setup to
recognize her router or cable modem.

HELP.

Hi Jim
If you're using a router and cable modem, they won't be listed anywhere
afaik.
Why do you call this pc a "host"? what is it hosting?
If you mean it's hosting ICS, then uninstall ICS as that's what your router
is doing for your network and that may be your problem.
Can you give a description of your network hardware on this pc and what it's
local IP address is please.
