I have seen this question posted before but can't seem to locate it.

I have a desktop and a laptop computer hooked up with a Linsys 2.4GHz
Broadband router, card in desktop unit, Sony VAIO PCG-K33 laptop wireless
IEEE802.11b/g .

What do I need to configure to access Laptop from Desktop or Desktop from
Laptop.

I now folders in each one with computer names on them. I copy a item into a
folder to view or access files, etc . Is there a better way. I am the only
user of these computers. Sony laptop has a faster processor then the
desktop. To upgrade the desktop to comparable speed as a laptop would
require new MB and reinstallation of WINXP HOME and loss of all files
programs on the desktop. Seems it would be easier if I could access desktop
from the laptop. WINXP HOME on laptop is OEM.

Thanks for any comments and suggestions.

stan,

i assume that you already have successfully created a network between
computers.

you can try using winvnc
(http://www.csd.uwo.ca/staff/magi/doc/vnc/index.html) as this will allow you
to access one computer on the other.

i have not tried this product yet (as i use remote desktop) but this has
been suggested by few of the guys here as an alternative to remote desktop.

i hope this helps.

regards!

You might share the drive on the desktop, and map the shared drive on the
Laptop.. That's what I do and even run programs from desktop on the laptop
after a simple initial path repair.
