Router connection

For about 2 days now, I have been unable to connect to the web through my
router. I CAN connect directly through the modem. I have tried a new router.
If I run the router software, I get the message that I am not connected to
the web, even though I can browse, get e-mail, news. When I run the
software, I am connected directly to the modem. Anyone have an idea what is
going on here? I use Adelphia as a provider. This connection has been golden
for over a year. Windows XP OS.
 
I also have Adelphia cable and had the same problem this
past week. I have no problems when directly connected
but cannot connect using the router. Have spent hours
with microsoft tech support but they just keep drawing a
blank. Suggest I replace router, but since you are with
Adelphia maybe it is something on their end. Anyone else
experience this?
