Hi,
I have Vista Home premium on a new Toshiba Satellite A100.
When i first started it up it had a mac-like rotating menu at the top of the
desktop area that has now disappeared. Does anyone know the steps to get
that back up?
Thanks, much appreciated

there are no "rotating" whatever things on a vista desktop.

maybe as you switched on your new Laptop that was the process indiacator for
installing the programs for you ?

I once had a Acer, that did this - after first use it installed over 30
minutes all kind of stuff and I could not even interrupt that. *

OEMs do preinstall only the OS, and might use such "assistants" to do the
rest after you accepted whatever Eula or License. ( Without accepting you
would not be able to use the stuff ).

But again, in Vista are NO rotating icons.

* The reason I sold it on ebay and will never buy acer again

Sorry, i didnt mean rotating.. its a Drop-down menu that comes from the top
of the desktop when you run the mouse up. It has volume controls, etc.

i see. a kind of head-up cockpit display - nice ;)

but again - that is no vista feature, I think you should look up your
manual.

Toshiba can install any 3rd party software and their own stuf as they wish,
for customers it is not always clear what is a built in tool and what not.
Such a "on mouse up"-dislay is surely not in vista.

The only thing that will appear on top of the screen and resembles a
controlpanel is if you have speech recognition turnded on, to control the
microphone and when vista starts or stops listening to your voice.

you find speech recognition under start-all programs- accessoires - "ease of
use" - or similar. It is in Home editions included.

Good luck :)
