What would cause a rom door not to open. Os is windows xp home edition.
1. Defective drive.
2. Disk jammed inside the drive.
3. Drive is "in use", or at least Windows thinks it is.
4. System is busy with other tasks and is not responding immediately.
Try starting the computer up but not booting into Windows. You can do
this by:
- going into the BIOS setup.
- booting, or attempting to boot, from a bootable CD or from a 3.5
diskette.
Then see if the drive door will open. If not then it is a hardware
problem (defective or jammed, loose cable, etc.). If it does open
okay but there are still problems in opening it after booting into
Windows then something in your Windows configuration or a background
program is interfering in some way.
Post the results back here and we will proceed further.
Good luck
