You haven't threaded your post so I don't really know what you're asking
about.
I did answer a question about how to reinstall Windows, and I replied with
an article from the Microsoft Knowledge Base that explained how to do this.
If you follow that procedure carefully, none of your own files (documents,
photos, music, etc.) will be lost. Only Windows itself is affected by that
procedure. That said, it's always a good idea to backup before making
substantial changes to your system. You will never be sorry that you backed
up.
Chkdsk checks your hard disk for logical errors (misconfigurations of the
file system) and for physical problems on the surface of your hard disk. You
can run it from Windows as well, and it's a good idea. For example -- and
this is just how I do it - I check for logical errors weekly and physical
problems monthly.
Threading is easy to do: Just use the reply function of your newsreader and
include all previous posts. Ah - that's better!
