Dear all,

I am preparing for an MCP exam on windows XP professionnla
administration and I try to understand roaming profile.

I have setup a server PC withe Windows 2000 server, then I
would like to configured my Xp client users account to
have there profiles store on the 2000 server.

How can I do that ?

Then I have understand also that in order to give to my
clinet Xp computer there server client even if network is
down I have to rename the USEr.DAT file to USER.SAM and
place it on my client XP workstation is it right?

I need to test all that thanks for helping me
Regards
Serge

In order to use roaming profiles, you need to make sure the XP clients
are domain members and you need to specify the profile path in the
Active Directory User and Systems MMC plugin for the user you wish to
configure... For instance, I use a profile path of
\\OFFICE-LOCATION\OFFICE\Profiles$\USERNAME for users at my Office - I
use DFS roots, thus the reason for the longer than usual path)
