Have sp4 on my w2k server download the new RIPrep. When I
do an RIPrep XP based image I get gmgr0.dat and gmgr1.dat
sharing error. Anyone know what it going wrong?

Also my uploaded image of a fully configured machine i.e.
XP office and a couple of utils takes about 2 hours. The
same configuration on W2KP takes less than an hour. How
come XP takes so much longer.

Thanks,
AJA

I've seen those errors at my shop but if ignored, the image works fine. I
think they are Qmgr*, not Gmgr*. I think they are something to do with the
BITS service and the files are locked.

I don't know anything about your setup, but the XP images are larger than
the 2K images (an XP image without Office can easily be over a gig).

Allan,

Ran in to this problem earlier this week. Microsoft's KB article 324444
addresses the Qmgr0.dat and Qmgr1.dat problems, however, it did not work for
me. I found that if I made sure that the Background Information Transfer
Service and the Automatic Updates service were stopped, I no longer got that
error. However, I am now getting an NTDETECT.COM error towards the end of
the image creation process and am not sure if that is related in any way to
the stopping of the service.
