I cannot run the programs on my desktop. Keep getting the message that the path is typed incorrectly. Is this a trojan? If so how can i get rid of it? I already downloaded the Fixtool for Trojan.Qhosts but nothing was found so maybe its something else. I cannot run may systemtools cause I do not have the rights which I also find strange. I looked at my account and it seems I have the same rights as of the administrator but still. Can someone please tell me what the problem is and advise how to repair. Many thanks, Gerrit

Open a cmd prompt (start / run cmd)
and then enter
path
Does what you see begin with the three locations as
(or at least contain, but it should begin)
PATH=C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;

??

Hi Roger,
many thnxs. What do I do after this?
appreciate your help.

Wow, sorry no one followed up - been out in the warm day working . . .

If you do need to add these to your path because they are gone,
then r-click on My Computer and select Properties.
In the System Properties that opens, navigate by clicking on the
Advanced tab, then the Env Variables button.
In the Env Var dialog that opens, highlight the Path variable in the
lower, system variables scroll box and click on Edit, then paste

%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;

at the beginning. You then just OK your way out.
Notice that this string to paste ends with, and uses between the
three parts, a semicolon - you need that one on the end to separate
from the rest of the path. You might want to look over what is there
and see if it needs cleaning up, duplicate removal, etc.

Roger, thanks for your help so far. I tryied to do what u said. First I started with the cmd prompt. I tryied all 3 locations. They are all in there.
Then I r-clicked on My Computer went to properties but then I get the message: windows cannot find "rundll32.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file...bla..bla..bla...Say Roger, I hope this tellls u alot more then it does to me.
Anayways, I am looking forward to your healing words..LOL...
Again, thanks for your help and patience...

I had not thought of that problem, you cannot run these as the path
is not letting you find them, so you can correct the path. Doh!
Can you run regedit, perhaps first running cmd and then use
cd command to change directory to windows\system32 and
then entering and running regedit ?
If so, try editing the Path value at
HKLM/System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment
Must be done as an admin then log off/in
