If I put in an address that outlook can't find in my contacts, it goes
'Check Names' (it says the contacts folder associated with this address list
could not be opened) to what I assume is the Windows Address Book. However
the first one it tries to open has nothing in it. If I cgo to the drop down
box, and select the second one it works fine... how do I get it to open the
proper one?

rfc

Open the Address Book.
Tools > Options > Show this address list first

Remove the invalid reference to a Contacts Folder here:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change.

Russ,

I don't quite get these instructions.
If I open the address book... in what program? Are we talking Windows
Address book (if so I don't have that option)

I could do the second thing but it hasn't fixed it

In Outlook. Click the Address Book icon in the Standard Toolbar.

No. We're talking the Outlook Address Book, which is a view of your
Contacts folder.

If I right click on Contacts i OUtlook 2003, I don't Tools as an option

So how do I get that option?

Could you please be more specific and start a little further back down the
instruction chain. What is my start point?

The start point is what I said.
Open the Address Book.
It's the Address Book icon on your Toolbar.
